Why goal setting fails and values don’t motivate you

Why goal setting fails and values don’t motivate you

Goal setting falls apart because until you meet them, you’re a failure. That’s why people tell you to focus on simple actions and forget about the results.

Except that falls apart too.

How do you change? How do you succeed?

Well, I’ll say this:

You can’t think your way there. Analysis, logic and reason smooth the road, but they don’t tell you which way to walk. You need to dig deeper to figure that one out.

It’s hard work. And the more you think about it, the harder it becomes.

There’s only one way to summon deep wells of energy, inspiration and creativity:

Get out of their way.

Seriously. Stop thinking, stop planning and even stop doing. Stop it all and, instead, start being.

Trust the right energy to come and embrace it when it does.

This sounds wishy-washy but it’s not. It’s the most pragmatic, actionable advice anyone can give you. Set your intention, open yourself up and trust whatever emerges.

And this sounds easy, but it’s the hardest thing you’ll ever do. Most people will question, judge or filter what happens. Even if I tell you not to. Even if you try with your entire mind not to. Because that’s the rub, isn’t it? This isn’t something you can do with your mind – it’s only something you don’t do with it.

You can only do this when you fully surrender to yourself. You might want to exercise and ideas for a book arise. Or you might want to study and you feel the need to do something with your hands.

Go with whatever arises. Sure, it’ll throw your schedule into chaos. For now. When you look back on it, you’ll realise what a small price to pay that was.

You are here.

You already have everything you need.

So get out of your way and trust yourself.

But you still might be spitting with frustration. How, you ask? How do you do something like this?

Let me break it down even more. Do this and you’ll unleash vast reserves of potential.

The first step is to bookmark this page.

Then you buy Unlock the Vault and study it diligently.

Check back on this article after a month.

Keep practicing.

And remain as open as you can.

I don’t know if you’ll understand yourself on a true level by then, but you’ll at least be moving towards that. You’ll sense it deep in your mind, even if you can’t understand it.

That’s okay. Trust it too.

Trust in yourself.

And see your mind in a whole new way:
