I bet you have some strange views, experiences and hobbies.
And I also bet most folks don’t see that side of you. They ask the typical questions about the weather and your job and how everything is going.
Sure, you can force the conversation to go in your direction…
But that can be weird and unsatisfying.
Luckily, you can project a sense of delightful whimsy right there during small talk. You’ve probably met folk like this – they immediately open up and start talking in strange and captivating ways.
Some of these people are clearly faking it. They’re starved for attention and this is how they get it.
The genuinely unique who aren’t afraid to let their freak flags fly?
They’re a lot of fun to be around.
If you have an inner weirdo who’s desperate to get out, here’s the obvious answer to getting better at that:
The more you play with this, the more natural it becomes.
An easy way to do this is Exercise 6 (pg10) of Conversation Hacker. Do this and you’ll intrigue people (and only weird out some of them) in seconds from meeting them.
Get cracking because the world needs the real you more than that mask you wear.
I’m eager for you to get started with this now. Having deeper connections, now and later, might be all you need to come through this.
