Mental Tools for Greater Living
I’m not a Grinch. Christmas is neat and all. I like the warm weather, (greetings from the southern hemisphere,) the food, the downtime, the chance to hang out with friends and family…
Still, there’s a lot we could strip back from the holiday without me caring.
Trees, presents, music…
When I was younger, these things helped make it Christmas. Now they just feel like distractions.
That’s not too Grinchy, right?
Well, let’s up the ante.
I’ll spend the holiday as I described above. I’ll also use it to make more money in 2019. How, you ask? By training my mind while I relax and spend time with people I love.
Yes, you can do both.
In fact, it’s easier than you think.
Every moment is a chance to practice patience, social skills, perception, creativity or a hundred other valuable skills. Yes, even while celebrating and relaxing. That’s a great way to learn skills like these.
And that’s one of the ways I teach them.
It takes discipline to apply training when it’s this natural. You can feel like, because it’s not a struggle, nothing is happening. Then you stick with it and something comes out of your mouth that surprises you.
I’ve been there a hundred times over, thanks to my own amazing teachers. Learn enough stuff like this and it becomes easy to teach it.
Especially when you know the mind inside out.
Am I bragging? Maybe, maybe not. Who else offers you training like this, on everything from attention to vitality?
You could go back to doing things the old way if you want – learning through time, text and turmoil.
Or you could learn with your mind, not against it.
That’s (one of the reasons) why I call it mind training.
