Including a study of “and”

Including a study of “and”

Here’s a quote I stumbled clumsily into while casually reading:

We often think when we have completed our study of One, we know all about Two because Two is One and One. We forget that we still have to make a study of “and.” – Sir Arthur Eddington

There’s so much trite garbage flying around social media. It was refreshing to read something that made me pause and say “huh”.

Of course, I immediately thought about mind training. You could learn a lot from this snippet alone.

Here’s my take on it:

You could probe the contents of your mind in dribs and drabs. A phobia here, a happy memory there, a value here. And you should. Introspection – proper, honest, experimental introspection – is either a lost art or something we never had in the first place.

People think they know their mind. Only with proper self-reflection and an unconscious free to express itself will you learn about you.

Meditation and self-hypnosis will get you there.

But even this will not tell you who you are. They uncover facts about you. Facts are relevant but they’re not the whole picture.

One Thought here and One Dream there are more than what they are separately. Until you know how they work together – a study of “and” – you don’t know yourself.

A passion for helping others and a hatred for failure could make you unstoppable. Or a neurotic, painful mess. How they come together separates a hero from someone history forgets.

Fix one thought and it might reappear.

Fix the way your mind connects thoughts and everything changes, easily and forever.

You can get to this state as naturally as breathing. If you haven’t, it’s because you haven’t read the right advice.

I can share some meditation tips that are unlike anything you’ve read before.

On one condition, though:

You follow the exercises. Give them a genuine effort. If they don’t work for you, figure out why. If they do, keep using them.

I can show you the way but, ultimately, it’s up to you to do the work. If that’s not for you, no worries. If you’re ready to take meditation further than you ever have, then this is what you need.

You’ll notice improvements before you know it. Nothing else can happen when you train your mind to see itself this clearly.

Over to you, my friend:
